Once ChatCache is installed, exporting a ChatGPT conversation takes only a few clicks. This guide walks you through exporting your first conversation from start to finish.
1

Open ChatGPT

Navigate to chatgpt.com in Chrome. ChatCache activates automatically on this site — no extra steps required.
2

Open a conversation

Click any conversation in the sidebar to open it. ChatCache works with any conversation, regardless of length or content type.
3

Click the ChatCache icon

Click the ChatCache icon in your Chrome toolbar. If you don’t see it, click the puzzle-piece icon to open the extensions menu and find ChatCache there. The ChatCache popup opens and displays your export options.
4

Choose a format

Select the format you want from the popup. ChatCache supports 7 formats:
  • Markdown — great for Notion, Obsidian, GitHub, and documentation tools
  • HTML — renders in any browser, preserves full visual structure
  • TXT — plain text, no formatting, compatible with everything
  • PDF — typeset output with LaTeX formulas rendered pixel-perfect
  • JSON — structured data, useful for developers and automation
  • CSV — tabular format, easy to open in spreadsheets
  • PNG — a screenshot-style image of the conversation
5

Download or copy

Click Download to save the file to your computer, or Copy to put the content on your clipboard. Your export is generated instantly and is ready to share, archive, or paste wherever you need it.
If you only want to export specific messages instead of the entire conversation, use selective export. You can enter selection mode, check individual messages, and export only the ones that matter. See Selective export to learn how.
Each format has different strengths depending on your use case. See Export formats for a side-by-side comparison of all 7 formats and guidance on when to use each one.
