ChatCache is a free Chrome extension available directly from the Chrome Web Store. Installing it takes less than a minute and requires no account, no sign-up, and no configuration. Once installed, it activates automatically whenever you visit ChatGPT.

Open the Chrome Web Store listing

Go to the ChatCache listing on the Chrome Web Store. You can also search for “ChatCache” in the Chrome Web Store directly.

Click Add to Chrome

Click the Add to Chrome button on the listing page. A confirmation dialog will appear listing the permissions the extension requires.

Confirm the installation

Click Add extension in the dialog to confirm. Chrome will download and install ChatCache automatically. You’ll see a brief notification when the installation is complete.

Pin the extension for easy access

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the extensions menu. Find ChatCache in the list and click the pin icon next to it. This keeps the ChatCache icon visible in your toolbar so you can reach it in one click from any ChatGPT conversation.
ChatCache is designed for Chrome. It also works on any Chromium-based browser, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc. The installation steps are the same across all Chromium-based browsers.

Where ChatCache activates

After installation, ChatCache activates automatically on:
  • chatgpt.com — the current ChatGPT domain
  • chat.openai.com — the legacy ChatGPT domain
You don’t need to do anything to enable it on these sites. Open any conversation and the ChatCache icon in your toolbar becomes active.
ChatCache does not activate on other sites. It only runs when you’re on chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com.
