PDF export produces a print-ready document that looks identical to what ChatGPT displays in the browser. It is the best format when your conversation contains LaTeX math formulas, because fractions, radicals, Greek letters, and superscripts all render as properly typeset output rather than raw markup.

What PDF export preserves

  • LaTeX math formulas — fractions, square roots, Greek symbols, and superscripts render exactly as shown in ChatGPT
  • Code blocks — syntax highlighting and language labels are retained
  • Tables — headers, alignment, and data rows are included
  • Images — DALL-E outputs, uploads, and inline graphics appear in the document
  • Conversation structure — the full back-and-forth layout is maintained

Use cases

  • STEM notes and assignments — export derivations, proofs, and calculations with math rendered correctly
  • Research papers — archive AI-generated analysis in a shareable, citable format
  • Printing — produce a clean physical copy of any conversation
  • Sharing — send a PDF to colleagues or instructors without requiring them to have ChatGPT access

Processing

PDF export sends your conversation to a secure cloud API at api.getchatcache.com for rendering. The rendered PDF is returned directly to your browser. ChatCache does not store your conversation content after the PDF is generated. All other export formats (Markdown, HTML, TXT, JSON, CSV, PNG) are processed entirely in your browser.
The cloud rendering step is what enables pixel-perfect LaTeX output. Once the PDF is returned to your browser, you can download it or share it immediately.
